Master's Students

To qualify as a Master's Student you must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a research or clinical master's program, in your 2nd year or above. Registration must be accompanied by an official letter from the head of the program attesting to the undergraduate student's enrolment emailed to conference@isdnsociety.org.
Indian Postdocs

ISDN is pleased to offer a limited number of places to Indian National Postdocs. To qualify, you must hold an Indian passport or national identification document. You should be a postdoctoral fellow within 5 years of completing your PhD (or equivalent) degree, or a graduate student that is registered in a graduate research degree program. Registration must be accompanied by a signed letter from your research supervisor attesting your affiliation to that lab emailed to conference@isdnsociety.org.
Indian Students

Visa information for
foreign nationals
In rules set out by the Government of India, ISDN, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), India, is required to apply to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs for the grant of political clearance to foreign (non-Indian) nationals to attend/participate in the conference.
The application process includes the submission of personal details, including a copy of the passport identification pages, for all foreign attendees in advance.
Once clearance is confirmed, foreign nationals will be issued a permission/invitation letter mandatorily required for applying for their conference visa.
Accepted presenting authors will be sent a link to a form to complete. Non presenting delegates will be given a link to the form during the registration process.
Cancellation
information
Substitutions may be made at any time but please advise the conference secretariat of a change of name. If you find it necessary to cancel the registration completely, please notify the conference secretariat immediately. Provided written notice is received by 21 December 2026, a full refund will be given less a 10% administration charge. Provided written notice is received by 4 January 2026, a 50% refund will be given. It is regretted for registrations cancelled after 4 January 2026, or for no-shows at the symposium, the full fee (100% cancellation charges) will be payable.
In the unlikely event that ISDN shall deem it necessary to cancel the conference, all pre-paid registration fees will be reimbursed.
ISDN shall not be liable for reimbursing the cost of travel or accommodation arrangements made by individual delegates/students. For non-Indian participants, we recommend you arrange travel insurance immediately upon payment of registration fees, accommodation and/or travel fees.

Gala dinner – 4 February 2027
The ISDN Gala Dinner is always a guest favourite!
This year, the evening is hosted at The Fisherman’s Wharf, bringing the essence of Goa to the outskirts of Bangalore with an airy and fun atmosphere. Lose yourself in the vast spread of clay roofed Gazebos, tastefully decorated with oceanic and beachside motifs. With an island bar down the centre and an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs create an array of delicious dishes, the restaurant is a quaint, and delightfully gorgeous reminiscent of a lavish Goan home.

‘still i whirl’
We are all movers, focused on what we are moving towards, and sometimes where we are moving from; but rarely how we are moving. Can the nature of movement itself encapsulate its purpose? How can we think of movement as a relationship with its cessation, stillness? In a fast-moving modern world, can we dare to be slow? Why do we move, and how is it an expression of our freedom? ‘still i whirl’ is a self-reflexive exploration, and simultaneously, a continuing surrender to the body’s potential and appetite for movement. Though we move differently, the whirl is a powerful, all-encompassing container: representing, at the fundamental level, atomic movement; the wrapping of tissues around our bones; varying psychosomatic states; individual and collective movement; and planets in orbit.
The kathak form lends itself to this exploration of circularity and subtlety: swirling pirouettes and small spirals of the wrists; flaring costumes and postures of pause; cyclic beat structures and the space of possibility between two beats. Through abhinay, an expressive emoting of feeling, we sing and dance the poetry of 12th-century Shaivite Basavanna in Kannada and 13th-century Sufi Mevlana Rumi in Persian. Their words are brought to life by an ensemble of vocalists and musicians, in a performance that draws on otherwise disparate forms: kathak, carnatic music, qawwali, and vacanas. We meditate on movement: they are two yet one, the stillness of whirl, and the whirl of stillness.
